The many dreams of yesterday

This is possibly one of the first poems I ever wrote. I  was a teenager and had not long become a Christian. The fact that life  is a journey towards  dream  of something better  still true today, particularly the last line.

The many dreams of yesterday, are reality today.

The green fields of tomorrow, they guide me on my way.

I go forth as a conqueror in wars, I have not seen.

To many lands and countries,I have never been.

The rivers long are longing, for me to sail along.

The singing birds are waiting, for me to hear their song.

But mountain peaks still stand,

So strong,

So sharp,

So tall.

It is to them I'm going,

For they reign overall.

O guide me winds that blow,North, South, West and East.

O keep me safe my trusty sword, from the savage beast.

O carry me my charger, for the road is hard.

O my God, watch over me.

For I am very tired!
